A Heartwarming Story -- An Angel at Work

Have you ever hitch-hiked in your life? Under what circumstance did you do it? Were you forced to or was it just for adventure? I'd sure would like to know.

My idea of it is, sure it is fun or even adventurous. But as the person picking the hitchhiker up, it can be a daunting experience. Who knows if it is safe --- for both parties. 

Yesterday M and I wanted to go to destination X. While we were in train, I thanked God that he brought us safely to our second stop. When we went out and tried to look for the bus connecting us to our final destination, it wasn't there. We found out that the bus stop was not in this train station but the next one. The next possible way to get to our destination was in 2.5 hours!!! We were stuck but didn't give up. We walked to the next 2 bus stops to see if there is any way of getting around the 2.5 hours' wait. In this era of phone connectivity, it was also useless. We didn't have the cellphone number of the possible person to pick us up. We tried to get the cellphone number through other means but nothing, not known. We needed to be in destination X because time is of the essence. We were to help someone. We were calm but a bit stressed as well. I prayed and asked God that he brought us here that he please let us out of this dilemma. 

We thought of our scenarios and what other options we have:

1) Wait for more than 2 hours

2) Walk for about 2 hours and we will be there. By then, we will all be physically drained and the bus will arrive a few minutes later if we had walked. So, back to option 1.

3) Hitchhike

I saw a few cars passing by, deciding everytime if I should or if I shouldn't. When I saw someone who just came out of the travel agency and was driving towards us, I thought here it goes. I simply slowly reached out my right arm and showed the thumbs-up sign. The car stopped and she opened her locked doors. I , then, opened the passenger door and asked if she is travelling to X. She said, no....she lives just a few meters away. I was disheartened. She asks me when is our the next connection. I said in more than 2 hours. She said, come, hop on and I'll bring you guys there. Later, we chatted and she was really friendly. We even said "du" to one another, informal form of addressing people. She said the way I hitchhiked was very sweet (sehr süß) that she took us in. Ok, she said that twice so it must be very true. She understood our situation perfectly as her daughter used to live in X and had difficulty going in and out as well.

Thank you, Ms Conni! You really saved us!!! Thank you for going out of your way to bring us to our destination. You surely are an angel at work!

Thank you for sending angels in our lives.

p.s. It makes me think right now what kind of accent I have when talking coz she said I had a nice accent...grins. Darn, by now, I thought I spoke like a true-blooded German.....hehehe.

Hast du schon mal getrampt? In welchen Bedinungen hast du es gemacht? Wieso hast du es gemacht? Das wird mich bestimmt interessieren!

Früher das Gedanken selbst finde ich spannend aber teilweise auch nicht sehr toll. Wer weiß, wer das andere ist, ob Trampen überhaupt gefährlich oder nicht. 

Gestern war M und ich unterwegs nach Ziel X. Wir waren früh aufgestanden um unsere Züge und Bus zu nehmen, um ins Ziel zu kommen. Als wir im unseren zweite Zug war, habe ich betet, danke, dass Er uns heilig oder ganz gut bis jetzt gebracht hat. Dann sind wir ausgestiegen. Wir haben unseren Bus gesucht aber es war nicht da. Als wir den Busplan angeschaut haben, gibt es wohl kein Bus an diesen Zeit. Nach überprüfen mit dem Smartphone, ist unser Bus angeblich nicht hier sondern in dem nächsten Zughaltstelle!!!! Die nächste Verbindung, die für uns in Frage kommt, ist in 2.5 Stunden! Naja..alles ist noch nicht verloren. Hat M schnell entschieden, zum anderen Bushaltstelle zu gucken. Vielleicht gibt es ja einen anderen, der fährt. Gemacht, getan, auch nicht. 

Um die Handynummer unseres möglichlichen Abholer zu bekommen gab es ein paar Telefonaten. Es hat auch nichts gebracht. Ich habe gedacht, wenn der Herr uns hier her heilig schon gebracht, mit Sicherheit bringt Er auch uns irgendwie weg.

Was für eine Wahl wir haben, haben wir schnell festgestellt.....
1. Warten für mehr als 2 Stunden
2. Laufen bis Ziel X. Es wird uns etwa 2 Stunden dauern und wir werden sicherlich auch  körperlichkaputt sein, dass wir nicht mehr richtig helfen können.
3. Trampen---- nur meine Idee

Zeit war wichtig für uns, da wir dort müssen, um zu helfen. Autos kommen und gehen. Jedes Mal war ich in Überlegung, ob ich doch trampe oder nicht. Ich habe es ja noch nie gemacht. Ein mal hatte ich eine Dame aus dem Reisebüro gesehen, die ins Auto eingestiegen ist. Ich habe gedacht....soll ich schon probieren. Ich habe langsam meine Hand ausgetreckt und meine Faust geballt, und dann meinen Daumen hoch gemacht. Sie hat angehalten. Das war doch was. Als sie ihr Auto aufgeschlossen, habe ich gefragt, ob sie nach X fährt. Sie hat gesagt nein, sie wohnt nur ein paar Meter von hier und dort will sie hin. Ich war niedergeschlagen. Sie hat gefragt, wann kommt meine nächste Verbindung, habe ich geantwortet, mehr als 2 Stunden. Sie hat dann gesagt, komm, komm rein und sie bringt mich und meinen Begleiter mit. Ich war über FROH und erleichtert und und und.

Im Auto haben wir gequatscht. Sie ist wirklich sehrrrr nett. Wir haben sogar uns gedutzt! (Man merkt schon, dass sie sehr offene Person ist). Ihre Tochter hat früher in X gewohnt deshalb weißt sie auch, wie schwierig ist es, mit dem Öffentlichen Verkehr dorthin und her zu fahren. Frau Connie, wir danken Dir ganz, ganz, ganz herzlich. Du hast unseren Tag gerettet. Vielen Dank, dass du noch Umstände gemacht hast, um Unbekannte zu helfen. Du bist im Wahren Sinne des Ausdruckes ----- ein Engel bei der Arbeit!
